ADDISON ROAD Headlines Trinity Spirit Festival II

ADDISON ROAD: (left to right) Jeff Sutton, Ryan Simmons, Jenny Simmons, Travis Lawrence, Ryan Gregg

Last Spring we were blessed to have the GMA’s New Artist of the Year TENTH AVENUE NORTH to kick off the first ever Trinity Spirit Festival. Coming up on February 6th of 2010, we definitely will not disappoint, by booking Texas based – ADDISON ROAD. Inspiration and excitement surround this band. With their upbeat music and energy, they will surely get the crowd going. Lead singer, Jenny Simmons has a voice as pure as the first ray of morning light and the 4 other members of the band including her husband are as talented and gifted as her on Drums, Keyboard, Bass and Lead guitars. By the Grace of God, are they put on this earth to tell of us of His message is such a beautiful way and yes they are coming here Saturday, February 6th of 2010.

Their album labeled, ADDISON ROAD, debuted in March of 2008 and has steadily climbed to the top 20 album charts. Featuring hit songs, All That Matters, I’m Sticking With You and Hope Now. This album definitely has brought them the respect of other well-established bands and as a result they have toured extensively across the country.

Check their website ADDISON.COM to find out more about the band and buy their CD and other nuggets.

The SonFlowerz Jump On Board for TSF 2010.

THE SONFLOWERZ - Sister's Rebecca & Elissa

THE SONFLOWERZ - Sister's Elissa & Becca

Along with the great news about ADDISON ROAD signing on for the Trinity Spirit Festival, British-American sister act from Colorado, THE SONFLOWERZ, have done the same. Along with their full band, they will open for AR with their inspirational and fresh sound.

The SonFlowerz have just experienced their most successful year yet. In August of 2007, the act won first place in the Vocal Duo competition and won Best Over-All Vocal Group at the 33rd annual GMA Music in the Rockies. With the release of their 3rd studio album, “All Over The World”, in May 2008, their singles “My Adoration” and “Edge Of My Seat” became smash hits, rising to the top of Christian charts and being played on over 400 radio stations.

Local Inspiration – Cadence – Joins the lineup.

Cadence Worship Band - Donny- (Lead Vocal/ Accoustic), Brittany (Vocals), Andrew (Vocals/ Accoustic), Chris (Electric), Eugene (Electric) Jeff (Bass), Carrie (Drums)

We looked at this band last year when searching for additional talent to lead in head lining band Tenth Avenue North. Caught up in the all the “to do’s” we lost the focus on this incredible musical ministry. On Monday, by God’s grace, like a gentle tap on the shoulder, the band contacted us. With a quick YouTube viewing of their latest promo and quick call to the band manager, we were convinced that we would be honored to have such a “Crossward Inspiring” group of youthful people to maybe be lights to our children.

Cadence got its start as a group of young people leading worship for their local youth group. They share a passion to bring the heart of worship to audiences in a way that ushers listeners into the spirit of worship. Their music drives audiences to participate with worship to God, stirring listeners to enter into the refreshing worship style and not to be mere spectators of the music. For this group of young people, worship is not just a weekly or occasional occurrence, but a 24/7 commitment to glorifying Jesus Christ.

I Challenge You to a Favor (to Yourself).

7DAYI look at how Christian music has shaped a new part of my life over the years, and I see that I look at life a little differently, in a different light. Before Christian music was in my life, I would basically do what many of you do and simply program around “those types” of stations or maybe just turn a deaf ear to them. I really couldn’t tell you how I arrived at finally giving a Christian music station a chance initially. I do remember that after listening to it, there was something about it that drew me in. Maybe it was sort of like the opposite reason why I don’t watch the news on television anymore. Instead of being full of bad news, Christian music was nothing but Good News. Even months into listening to Christian music, once in a while a “non-listening” family member or friend would ride in my truck with me, I would quickly change to a non-secular station, in fear of getting “caught.” Sure enough as time past I felt more comfortable to a point where I keep the Christian station on whomever is in the car with me. I listen to it at work, at home and most likely if you see me around town or at school, it’s playing in my head.

Mike Donehey - Tenth Avenue North captivated the crowd last Spring.

Honestly Christian music has come a long way over the past decade, and frankly today’s Christian music just flat out “Rocks.” The talent of artists and bands like Jeremy Camp, Mercy Me, David Crowder and Chris Tomlin are absolutely incredible. I truly believe that these artists are merely into playing music to the masses to spread the Good News about Jesus Christ and the Grace He gave us by dying on the Cross. Last year’s band, Tenth Avenue North spoke to us with real words and real meaning. This next Spirit Festival will bring us Addison Road and The Sonflowerz. Both bands consist of youthful and refreshing energy that sing about Christian Values that we should all take into our lives.

Because of this effect that Christian music had on my life, I want you to do me a favor. If you don’t listen to Christian music already, I want to challenge you to listen to a local Christian radio station (88.1 WAYFM or REACHFM) for a week. If you complete my challenge I will give you one entry ticket to the upcoming 2010 Trinity Spirit Festival. Click here and tell us about your experience that week. Call me (Steve Cruz) at 561-7189 or email me at steve@trinityspiritfestival.com so I can instruct you how to get your FREE ticket.

Haiti is Hurting

As I prayed with my children tonight, I mentioned for the second consecutive night about the terrible tragedy that occurred south of us. As I knelt next to the comfortable bed, underneath our sturdy roof and over stable ground, I thought of the grief and pain and insecurities that some poor Haitian people are feeling at that very moment. Please let them know that at that moment millions of prayers are with them, from all around the world. With them in grief, with them in pain and with them in death.

Please Lord let them realize that even though they may seem hopeless, that even in the darkest times their faith in You will carry them to a mountain so high above the gloom, with a sky so blue, so peaceful and safe. Welcome them home.

Pray for Johnny O

JohnOAs we seemingly go through our lives trying to focus on the good and less on the bad, we tend to sway back and forth. There are people that seem perfectly “together” on the outside, but inside they are broken. That person is not spoiled or rotten inside, he or she is fighting the same demons that many of us contend with as well. We win and lose battles constantly.

Recently Mark and I had met a homeless gentleman locally and we asked him a couple questions. As this man in his early 50’s slapped at biting mosquitoes, he told us that he was just trying to find a safe place to sleep. He told us that he did not want to continue living the way he is and he wanted to live a normal life. He stated that he did have an alcohol problem, and at one time in his life he was a Golf Pro in Maryland. This drinking problem may have played a role in leading him to the dark place that he is in now. I asked him questions about his family, and he told us where the rest if his family are scattered around the country. I thought to myself, how could this happen to someone that had been leading a seemingly normal life a short time ago and now he was homeless on the streets in South Florida.

Mark Constantino and I along with the help of Mark’s wife, Renee, tried to assist him to possibly get him into a housing and rehab facility, but unfortunately we were unable to find him again next evening. Until we see again, all we can do is pray that he may be getting some help and maybe be off the dangerous night streets. Maybe he could find some hope and faith in knowing that he is a child of God and he is not alone.

Please keep Johnny O in your prayers. Pray that he is safe. Pray that he is healthy. Pray that he finds the strength and will to allow God to help him fight off the demons in his life. Amen.
