I Challenge You to a Favor (to Yourself).

7DAYI look at how Christian music has shaped a new part of my life over the years, and I see that I look at life a little differently, in a different light. Before Christian music was in my life, I would basically do what many of you do and simply program around “those types” of stations or maybe just turn a deaf ear to them. I really couldn’t tell you how I arrived at finally giving a Christian music station a chance initially. I do remember that after listening to it, there was something about it that drew me in. Maybe it was sort of like the opposite reason why I don’t watch the news on television anymore. Instead of being full of bad news, Christian music was nothing but Good News. Even months into listening to Christian music, once in a while a “non-listening” family member or friend would ride in my truck with me, I would quickly change to a non-secular station, in fear of getting “caught.” Sure enough as time past I felt more comfortable to a point where I keep the Christian station on whomever is in the car with me. I listen to it at work, at home and most likely if you see me around town or at school, it’s playing in my head.

Honestly Christian music has come a long way over the past decade, and frankly today’s Christian music just flat out “Rocks.” The talent of artists and bands like Jeremy Camp, Mercy Me, David Crowder and Chris Tomlin are absolutely incredible. I truly believe that these artists are merely into playing music to the masses to spread the Good News about Jesus Christ and the Grace He gave us by dying on the Cross. Last year’s band, Tenth Avenue North spoke to us with real words and real meaning. This next Spirit Festival will bring us Addison Road and The Sonflowerz. Both bands consist of youthful and refreshing energy that sing about Christian Values that we should all take into our lives.

Because of this effect that Christian music had on my life, I want you to do me a favor. If you don’t listen to Christian music already, I want to challenge you to listen to a local Christian radio station (88.1 WAYFM or REACHFM) for a week. If you complete my challenge I will give you one entry ticket to the upcoming 2010 Trinity Spirit Festival. Click here and tell us about your experience that week. Call me (Steve Cruz) at 561-7189 or email me at steve@trinityspiritfestival.com so I can instruct you how to get your FREE ticket.

there is a huge variety of christian tunes for all whether it be country, rock, rap, pop etc. The words inwhich christian singers sing are positive, uplifting, heartfilled just simply pure sinless lyrics.

  • Fantastic site, I really like your writing style. Very distinctive and easy to follow. On a lot of blogs people just drone on and on, but not you – very nice. As a big fan of Bradley Hathaway’s art, it’s good to read what someone else says. I don’t have time to read all of the articles here right now, I found this site while I was looking for something else on myspace, but I’ve bookmarked your homepage and will visit again soon to see the latest news. Visit my site if you’d like to read more. Keep up the fine work!

I just wanted to share something with you. About 6 months ago I was driving somewhere and I was stuck in traffic and was getting frustrated. The bumper sticker in front of me said the way 88.1. Later on that day I tuned into the station. I liked it very much. I listened to it for about a month and then lost it on my radio, battery problems and my LCD is not clear anymore….I have an old car….I love music and I really enjoyed alternative music and what I was listening to on the station was voices that sounded like alternative artist and I was interested. I think I was just becoming aware at that time that I was being called to the faith. December 20th I accepted Jesus into my life at Calvary Church in Ft. Lauderdale. I have yearned for knowing him for so long and now it is happening to med. Today at work I found the 88.1 station and I had it on my computer all day long. I am home now and found the station again and I really want to go to the concert. I just want to let you know that I plan on taking the challenge, but I don’t need any free stuff to get me to do it…I just wanted to share this with you.
